Ebook three – How to: measure success

Proving that you're a success

Congratulations, your content is finally out in the digital world.

In Episode Two, we showed you how to turn your winning idea from Episode One into a winning blog post.

Problem is: how do you actually know whether it worked?

How can you tell if it actually provided any lasting benefit for your business? That is, after all, the whole point of this exercise.

There are many ways to measure success, but not all of them are right for every business blog. Many are also not quite as straightforward as they seem.

So, in the final episode of this e-book series, we will shed some light on measuring and reporting: how to track user behaviour, what to look for and how to learn from it.

Step one

'Make sure you have analytics set up'

A basic step but really important. Going live without proper tracking tools in place means you'll miss out on understanding what is and isn't working on your site.

'Proper' doesn't mean the standard analytics features that come with your CMS system. WordPress, Wix and Squarespace are great for lots of things but they don't allow you to understand your audience on a granular level.
